Dashboards, automation and AI shorten the gap between a signal and an action. They do not decide which signal is worth acting on.
Buying, logistics, stores and planning can each hit their number while the chain spends more. Local targets reward local efficiency, not the handoff.
A full warehouse is not availability. The shelf stays empty when the stock is in the wrong node, the wrong pack, or behind a decision the store never received.
Retail supply chains get better when practitioners compare notes. Pick a topic, bring a question, or suggest what Anup should cover next.

Repairing Retail Ecosystems in the Age of Complexity
Drawing on nearly two decades across retail, wholesale, FMCG, planning, analytics and transformation, Anup shows how individually efficient functions can add up to a fragile, underperforming ecosystem.
The book names eight broken legs that stop supply chains moving as one connected system. It introduces the Broken Legs Repair Framework to help leaders diagnose instability, reconnect decisions and create measurable value. It also looks at how explainable AI, human judgement and autonomous systems can change orchestration while keeping transparency, accountability and trust.
Why do shelves remain empty when warehouses are full?
Why do costs rise even when every function meets its targets?
Why can more technology produce faster decisions, but not better ones?
Find where functions, partners, systems, measures and decisions have drifted out of line.
Join the decisions that individually efficient teams make in isolation.
Apply the Broken Legs Repair Framework, one of six original frameworks in the book.
